Senior midfielder Stephanie Kisic stole the show as the Tigers came out with a 2-0 season-opening victory against the Robert Morris Colonials at Walton Stadium Friday afternoon.

Kisic led the offense with a goal off a pass from senior Laura Schnell in the seventh minute of the game, putting the Tigers on top 1-0. The Colonials defensive efforts held the Tigers scoreless for the remainder of the half.

"Even though it was a close game, I still feel we were outplaying Robert Morris," head coach Michelle Webber said. "I felt confident going into the second half."

In a defensive battle in the second half, sophomore midfielder Kristie Blumer was able to knock-in Towson's second tally of the game off a pass from Kisic.

The Tigers are now 2-0 overall with the Colonials after earning a 4-0 win in their first-ever match last season.

"I felt really good… I don't think it felt much different than last year," Webber said. "I feel a win is always great regardless of my status as the official coach."

Whitney Clugston, Towson's sophomore goalkeeper, recorded her first career shutout, but was not forced to make any saves behind Towson's shutdown defense. The Colonials' Stephanie Seeley had three saves and allowed two goals in her first collegiate start.

Webber is welcoming back six starters this season, including the CAA leading scorer last season, Christina Boarman. Boarman was named to the preseason All-CAA team and earned first-team All-CAA honors last season.

The Tigers also have a strong mid-field with three returning seniors, including Kisic. Kisic had five assists last season and just earned a goal and an assist in the season-opener.

"Experience is definitely something in our favor; they have already done this before which is definitely a plus," Kisic said. "But we have a different squad and new dynamics this season with some new people."

The team will return home this Friday to face the Ball State Cardinals at 1 p.m. at Stevenson University Field.
