One 2008 Towson alum's "true life" was captured for millions of television viewers. Recent Towson graduate Karley Colter was followed by MTV cameras over the summer for an episode of the series "True Life," titled "I Have A Summer Share 2."
Being on the show was like a dream for Colter, who graduated in May with a degree in mass communication.
"I always wanted to do something on TV," she said.
A month before graduation, Colter heard about a casting call for "True Life" that was looking for students who own timeshares on the beach. Colter had spent the previous two summers at a share in Ocean City, Md., so she decided to respond to the casting call.
"I told them my story, and they followed," she said.
The episode chronicled Colter's transition from college to the outside world and her final summer spent in Ocean City.
"It's about living at the beach, trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my life after the summer," she said.
Colter, who also served as the Student Government Association's director of public affairs last year, said she had no qualms about MTV's cameras tracking her every move.
"It was really fun," she said. "I thought it was a really cool experience."
The episode aired Saturday, Nov. 1. Repeats have not yet been scheduled. For a schedule of repeats, pictures and episode summaries, visit truelife.mtv.com.
