When I die, if Heaven is anything like Sephora, I'll take it.
Sephora, Towson Town Center's brand spanking new makeup addition, is every girl's dream and then some.
Not only can one find reasonably priced makeup that is the perfect match for any skin tone, hair color, eye color or occasion, but the staff, unlike those at department store makeup counters, is friendly and helpful instead of overbearing and obnoxious.
According to store director Lindsey Nigh, the idea of Sephora came out of the frustration of women with at department store counters. Instead of being limited by one brand at one counter with a consultant giving you a look only a professional could replicate, Sephora aims to offer a wide variety of brands, tools and tips to consumers in order to make makeup easy.
"Sephora is not about giving you a makeover, it's about giving you a consultation," Nigh said.
For fall 2008 there are two new growing makeup trends every girl should jump on the bandwagon for: high-tech tools and high-definition makeup, according to Nigh.
High-tech tools, which range from flat irons and light therapy kits and stubble removing shave systems, help clear up one's complexion with "ultra-modern capabilities."
Nigh recommends the Clarisonic Skincare Brush, which pulses more than 300 times per second for a supersonic clean that also reduces wrinkles and age lines.
At $25 for the brush heads and $195 for the actual brush, high-tech tools aren't exactly the perfect fit into a college student's makeup budget. Fortunately for us, there's another, slightly cheaper trend that's just as hot this fall season.
High-definition makeup (Nigh recommends Make Up For Ever, $40 at Sephora), is oil-free liquid foundation that aims to offer full skin coverage without making it look like you're even wearing makeup at all.
Because you only need a pump of the foundation a day to cover one's entire face, one tiny bottle of Make Up For Ever can last up to three months, breaking the price down to a little over $10 a month, around the same price for over-the-counter brands and much cheaper than department store foundation.
To accompany one's new, flawless skin, Sephora offers a great variety of lipsticks, glosses, eye shadows, blushes and mascaras, all at affordable price ranges.
Another recent product addition to the Sephora line is Sephora by OPI. In partnership with OPI nail care, Sephora has put out a line of 54 shades of chip-resistant nail polish in fantastic colors with hilarious names. One of my favorites is described as "shimmering wine over dark coffee," and is titled "I'm with Brad." How fun is that?
I could talk about the luxuriates of Sephora forever, but I'll let you head up to the Towson Town Center to check out my new favorite addition for yourself.
"To look polished you don't need a lot and you don't need a lot of time," Nigh said. Sephora proves that motto to their customers every day with beautiful makeup at fashionably affordable prices.
