Floating household objects, students having their minds read and a magically reappearing $20 note were all seen by students that descended on Stephens Hall Auditorium Saturday to see something incredible.
The Campus Activities Board sponsored a two-hour magic-comedy act by crossover performer Justin Kredible, drawing around 300 students.
Kredible describes himself as "magician, only cooler," and some students found that the show was a healthy mix-up from many of the normal campus events.
"It adds variety to all the different activities and things that go on at Towson. We're not seeing always a music concert or a comedian, it gives something different to do," Evelyn Kubik, freshman biology major, said.
Voted Entertainer of the Year for the last two years by Campus Activities Magazine, Kredible performed an act that was a combination of a comedy show with just a hint of the supernatural.
Though Kredible performed such feats as mind reading, making a table to levitate, balloon sword swallowing and even shredding a $20 bill, then causing it to reappear whole inside of an uncut orange, many students preferred Kredible's humor to his magic tricks.
"I think the best thing about his performance was his witty little side comments," Maria Herdoiza, freshman dance major, said. "They were always a little sexual, which is good for a college audience because everyone's a little immature in that sense."
Kredible captivated the audience's attention with active member participation. Like all aspects of his act, Kredible took finding participants for his tricks one step further and actually went into the audience to find his magic victims.
Tricks built up as the show went on, and the audience's reaction to the grand finale proved it was anything but a disappointment. Kredible brought an audience member onstage to fire a paintball gun while he caught the unharmed paintball in his mouth.
"I've actually seen [that trick] done with a hand and that was a really different twist on it. I'm trying to figure out how he did it," freshman Erin Benson said.
