The College of Business and Economics has extended the deadline for students to apply for "The Associate." In the college's take on The Apprentice television show, students will compete for a job at 1st Mariner Bank with local business guru Ed Hale. Hale, a native of Baltimore, owns the Baltimore Blast soccer team and chairs the board of 1st Mariner Bank. After a year, the students and faculty of the business department found Hale perfect for the job. The competition begins on Feb. 15 with an initial meeting with the candidates and Ed Hale. Candidates will meet with Hale in a boardroom where someone will be fired once a week, just like in the television show, until The Associate is picked. There will be seven events total occurring between February and mid-April. The deadline for applications has been extended to Feb. 1. Applicants must be a business or economics major set to graduate in May 2005 to be eligible. Applications can be downloaded from the college's Web site: http://www.towson.edu/cbe/. Any questions should be directed to Laleh Malek at lsrnec@towson.edu.
