UPDATED: Photos of subject in up-skirt incident released

UPDATED FRIDAY, 3:56 p.m.: Photos of a subject seen entering Cook Library in attire similar to a description given by a student in an incident report were released by Towson University Police.

The subject is a person of interest in an incident at the library Tuesday, April 12.

A female student told TUPD she was in the library studying when she heard the sound of a camera clicking. When the student stood up, she observed a subject crouched over. It is suspected that he was taking a picture up her dress, according to the crime release sent to all students, faculty and staff on Wednesday.

TUPD deputy chief Joe Herring would not comment on if there are any leads in the case, as it is an active and ongoing investigation. He did urge anyone with information on the incident to contact the department.

When the male suspect was noticed, he fled the library while carrying a cell phone, according to the release.

University librarian Debbie Nolan said she was made aware of the incident shortly after it happened.

“It’s very upsetting, and I hope that the police department is able to track down and find out exactly what happened,” she said.

Apart from noise complaints and theft cases, there have not been any other similar instances she can recall, according to Nolan.

“It is important that we all keep our eyes open in the library and elsewhere and try to help each other out,” Nolan said.
