Randumb Conversation: The person at work who nobody likes

28 March 2012 By Eric Martinez, Columnist No Comments

I don’t know about you, but I always find it hard to come back to classes after Spring Break.

Since I work full time, getting up early doesn’t make a difference. It’s going to class that exhausts me. For one week, my weekly schedule is altered, and falling back into that routine takes some time.

Tuesday night, when I was walking to class, I overheard two guys talking about their break. This leads me to this week’s ranDUMB conversation.

James: Hey, bro!  Did you have a good break?

Henry: Naw.  My mom made me go to a wedding in North Carolina.

James: Damn, dude, that sucks!

Henry:  I know.  Oh well.  Wutabout you?

James: I took a few days off work.  When I got back, I had a strange conversation with a co-worker.

Henry: How so?

Now this is all hearsay, but I like what this co-worker had to say.

James: She told me, “It was quieter when you weren’t here.”

Me: “That’s it?  No hello?  No welcome back?  No, ‘How was the

wedding?’”

Her response: “I’m not going to kiss your ass because you were gone

for a few days.”

Henry: Damn, dude, that’s harsh!

James: Whatever.  I was pissed.

I have to honestly say that I like this co-worker’s attitude. She is to the point and didn’t sugar-coat the situation—I guess I liked it so much because it reminded me of something that I would have said.

I normally would give some sort of advice here, but I think the co-worker summed it up. There is always one person you work with that nobody likes. If you don’t know who it is, it’s probably you.

Stoopid!
