Survival Guide 2012: Grub off campus

Cheesecake Factory

A little on the pricy side, but some of the best off-campus food around. Possibly the best part of the entire meal is the bread that they serve before your meal comes out, but provided the bread isn’t filling enough, I recommend getting Cheesecake’s orange chicken or chicken parmesan sandwich. Of course, a trip to the Cheesecake Factory wouldn’t be complete without cheesecake. Get the Adam’s Peanut Butter Cheesecake or the Tiramisu Cheesecake to polish the meal off.

Towson Hot Bagels

Definitely on the cheaper side, THB is a Towson staple. And THB coffee and a bagel is a great hangover cure. This is perfect for college students, because THB offers a small coffee and a bagel with cream cheese for just about $5. Besides the great breakfast, the legendary bagel shop has a great Reuben sandwich for lunch. Go to THB on the weekend, and there is always going to be a line to the door.

Towson Diner

Referencing the freshman to-do list, Towson Diner is a must whenever off-campus food gets called into question. From breakfast to dessert, Towson Diner offers anything a broke college student would want. Recommendations include their chocolate cake if it’s desert time or their pancakes if it’s time for breakfast. No matter the time of day, Towson Diner is never a bad choice.

Chipotle

I mean, it’s Chipotle. Enough said. Plus there are two locations within five minutes of driving distance from campus.

Noodles & Company

Though you may not be a fan of the dishes at Noodles, what really sets Noodles apart is the magical Coca-Cola machine located in the restaurant. Orange Coke, peach Sprite and raspberry Fanta are just a few of the flavor combinations obtainable through this amazing piece of machinery. Plus, Towson students get a free regular-sized fountain drink with their student ID, so the magic can be yours free with the purchase of one of their dishes. Also, my vegetarian friend loves Noodles, so if you aren’t down for meat, this is a great option.
