27 August 2012 By Jeremy Bauer-Wolf, Editor-in-Chief One Comment

One student was shot Monday morning at Perry Hall High School, according to Baltimore County Police.

The student, 17-year-old Daniel Borowy, was taken to shock trauma at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Police have charged 15-year-old Robert Wayne Gladden Jr. with first-degree murder, according to the BCPD Twitter page. Gladden was charged as an adult.

Police said they Gladden acted alone, and that he did not intend to target his victim.

Gov. Martin O’Malley released a statement on the shooting.

“Today, on this first day of school for many students in our State, we’ve suffered a senseless act of violence.I’d like to thank the teachers and administrators for their courageous and life-saving actions. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the injured student and his family,” he said in a press release.

The Towerlight will update this story as more information becomes available.
