Survival Guide 2012: Phone numbers you need to know

23 August 2012 By Towerlight Staff 3 Comments

TUPD

The Towson University Police Department  (410-704-4444) is an emergency number like 911 that will go directly to TUPD.

This is a new number for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Dowell Health Center

A number that isn’t necessarily for emergencies is Dowell Health Center. We have all found ourselves fighting ailments outside of Dowell Health Center hours, such as food poisoning from god-awful Chinese food (or the Glen). So outside of Dowell’s normal hours, call them at 410-704-2466 to be directed to a nurse advice hotline that can help or call to set up an appointment.

Resident Assistant/Residence Life Coordinator

A go-to person if you are having trouble with anything is your resident assistant (RA) on duty or emergency after hours for your building. This will come in handy if you ever lock yourself out of your room by accident or you need someone to guide you where to go in situations. See your building lobby for that number.

Cab companies

One of the main disadvantages of starting college is being carless and desperate for a ride. Most people choose cabs to get from point A to point B on a Saturday night, and the cab of choice in Towson is Jimmy’s (410-296-7200.) But be smart enough to have a backup number like Checker cab (410-685-1212) or a friend with a car that will bring you home.

SAFE Ride

If you are closer to campus but it’s late at night and you feel sketchy or unsafe to walk back to your dorm, call 410-704-SAFE(7233) to get a ride and if you aren’t in an accessible stop they will direct you where to go.
