While I have to agree with many of the comments regarding the fun in tailgating, I have to wonder where the students commenting about Towson Homecoming have been tailgating. I have attended Towson Homecomming as a guest for many years and I have to admit, it is pretty funny. Tailgating is supposed to include grills, hotdogs, hamburgers, footballs, chips, soda and beer; however, the immature students at TU think it is a drink fest. Who are you trying to kid when you talk about supporting the football team and school spirit, because the drunks that I have seen in the past are normally stumbling their way back to the residence halls after being pushed from the lots by the police?

I must clarify, there are many students who know how to tailgate responsibly and take it upon themselves to clean up their area prior to GOING to the game to show their school spirit and support the football team. Unfortunately, the students who drink excessively, are taken by ambulance to the hospital, stumble back to their dorms, throw beer cans at TU police, pass out on benches, ruin the atmosphere for those who know how to tailgate.

I support the decision of the Towson Administration to change the tailgating policy. I said the Administration, not one individual, as anyone with a lick of intelligence would know that decisions such as this, are not made in a vacuum.

I would love to see real tailgating at Towson. Maybe we should call the University of MD College Park or Penn State and ask them if they can host a Tailgating 101 for our students.

In conclusion, the policy is ONLY for Homecomming, if you want the Administrtion to consider reviewing the policy for next year, show them that TU students know what REAL tailgating is. Get out your grills, bring your hamburgers and hotdogs, find the football and frisbee and come to lot 14 this weekend and tailgate. School spirit and support for our football team can start this weekend.

Blame Mike Waddell. He does not have the balls to make this about athletics. He talks a good game but punks out every time. Lets get an AD that actually cares about the students instead of this asshat who just out BS all day.

People should boycott the tailgate and just show up for the game at 7. This way the new policy failed, and they lose money on the alcohol / food they purchased and you still get to support the school which is the main priority here.

“Free food, including wings, sloppy joes, veggie burgers and soda.” What’s the probelm with all this free food? Oh wait, no alcohol so all the underclass students can’t get drunk and out-of-control.

Now’s that an alcohol free policy I can live with. No obnoxious, out-of-control drunks spoiling the game for me. Yeah!!!!!!!!!

The reason I attend Homecoming is for the football game. Not to get drunk, get out-of-control, or litter like I see after a tailgate.

If any alum wants to boycott the game, that’s their decision but the people they will hurt most is the football team by the lack of support and attendance.

Heck with the tailgate, attend the game and support and cheer for YOUR Tigers football team.
