Black Tiger Affair: Make color your friend
When autumn comes around, men have a tendency to avoid color. Don’t fall into this trap. This fall it’s all about adding color. Combine vibrant colors with neutral colors for a fresh autumn look.
Try pairing colors like mustard yellow, green or blue with darker colors like maroon, brown or gray. Colored trousers, such as chinos or corduroys, are a great opportunity to add personality. Give the jeans a break for a while—and more importantly the gym shorts and sweatpants (please). Colored trousers can be worn in different ways. They can be worn with formal, casual and outerwear. Make sure the hues complement each other.
Look at the color wheel, that you’ve probably never seen since art class in elementary school, and learn about secondary and tertiary colors.
To add an extra detail, cuff the bottom of the pants to show off awesome socks—or some skin. If you’re wondering what kind of shoes you should wear with all this color, the simpler the better. A shoe that matches all the colors you’re wearing is over-complicating things. A monochrome boot or sneaker, such as brown or black, is all you need.
For the top half: layer, layer and layer some more.
There are many ways to vary the layering process. Layering adds complexity to your style and it’s also good for staying warm in the cold weather outside and simply stripped down when it is warm inside. Mix textures, patterns and colors. Experiment with types of knitwear, collared shirts, jackets, and blazers. Don’t forget to add a scarf, they come in all different kinds of colors, materials and textures.
To top it all off, wear a knit hat. Color is your friend this fall. Not only do bright colors bring flair to your wardrobe, but they will improve your mood when the weather is not so forgiving.
