I know i am late to the dance on this one but Mike Waddell seemed to be doing everything right. It appeared that he was making all the right moves. Now the truth is coming out. It seems that he spent all the money to create the appearances and now it is time to pay the piper. Sad that he is not the man we thought he was. When can we get an AD that actually makes the right moves. Lets cut Waddell lose and start all over again.

I call bull on this. Title IX is a handy excuse, but Towson can comply to Title IX by one of three ways:

a) showing that intercollegiate participation opportunities for male and female students are provided in numbers substantially proportionate to their respective enrollments
b) showing a history and continuing practice of program expansion in response to the interest and abilities of the underrepresented sex, or
c) demonstrating that the interests and abilities of members of the "underrepresented" sex have been fully and effectively accommodated by the school's program

As you can see, with responsible leadership and budget/scholarship monitoring, Title IX compliance is not really that difficult.

This is all about reallocating funds away from two non-revenue male sports and sending it back to either the athletic department administration, revenue sports, women's sports, or all of the above.

It's a joke, and wouldn't happen if Waddell could properly allocate his more than adequate funding. By the way, he was part of a similar problem at Cincinnati. Waddell was part of a team that averaged just over $4.8 million in deficits over his tenure at Cincinnati.

Even little tweaks in the student population can have a huge effect with title IX. It's a great idealist move that has done more to hurt college and high school athletics as a whole than improve bring positive change to women's athletics.

This has nothing to do with Title iX. Towson has been fine for the last 50+ years with mostly women on campus. The problem is Mike Waddell and is ass backwards budgets. Stop spending money on stupid things like painting the visitors locker room pink, and ipads for your entire staff. Stop bribing students with tv's to come out to games. Stop the frivolous spending and we would have more money than we need. Did i mention that Waddell and his top 2 deputies make about $500,000 a year combined. Cut your salaries, not teams.
