What’s the Buzz: McKayla Maroney, Taylor Swift, Kardashians
Obama is not impressed
The U.S women’s gold medal-winning gymnastics team—aka the Fierce Five—met with President Obama for a long overdue meet-and-greet and White House tour. The five gymnasts signed leotards for Sasha and Malia Obama and later watched the President’s helicopter take off on the South Lawn. However, a special moment between McKayla Maroney and Obama took the cake. In what can only be best described as a “peaked meme” the gymnast and the President both did their finest “not impressed” face and posed for the camera. When POTUS himself mocks a meme, there really can’t be a bar set higher.
T-Swift burns ‘Red’ for Harry Styles
Sounds like young love for Taylor Swift and Harry Styles—well, more for Styles that is. According to All Access Pass and The X Factor, Swift may have found another boy five years her junior. Both news outlets tweeted that Swift and Styles were flirty with each other while backstage on The X-Factor. Co-host Mario Lopez verbally confirmed the innocent antics by explaining that Styles told him he was there just for Swift. However, Swift better play her cards right because if not she could see another break-up on the big screen and not just in one of her own songs. When visiting NBC’s “Today,” Niall Horan revealed that they are headed to 3-D, which will be directed by Morgan Spurlock of “Super Size Me” fame.
Kardashians make headlines
Bruce Jenner is contemplating a divorce—again—but apparently this time he might actually be serious. This time he’s had his assets valued and set his eyes on a custody arrangement. However, Kris Jenner put the rumor to rest (for now) and told Extra that she often calls Bruce with the latest rumors and he bats it off because he’s at the hobby shop. Meanwhile, middle daughter and queen of the Kardashian empire, Kim, had the honor of attending the Marine Corps Ball. Unlike Mila Kunis whose attendance was more subtle, Kim made a spectacle out of the event only to leave 15 minutes into dinner. Barely a few hours after Kim roughed the waters with her early exit, she tweeted prayers to Israel and Palestine, which did not bode well with many of her followers. Kim then swiftly removed the tweets and blogged a lengthy apology. The most important Kardashian “news,” however, is owed to Kendall Jenner, who, at her 17th birthday party, held hands while ice- skating with 14-year-old Jaden Smith.
