Connecticut shooting leaves children dead
Over 27 people are dead, including 18 children, following a shooting this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Conn.
CNN originally reported the gunman as Ryan Lanza, but since has retracted their ID. The New York Post broke the news that Adam Lanza is the suspect in the shooting, and Ryan Lanza is his brother.
Officials recovered two weapons, one a .223-caliber rifle, a legal assault weapon.
The death count rivals tragedies like the Columbine massacre, which left a total of 12 dead and 21 injured, and the Virginia Tech shootings in which 32 were killed.
The Towerlight will update this story as more information becomes available.
