Greek life recruitment gets going
Hello! I’m Alex and I’ll be updating you on all you need to know about Greek life this semester. Whether you are interested in joining Greek Life or are already a member, the first few weeks will keep you busy as rush weeks begin.
The first event for the Interfraternity Council is “Meet The Greeks” Thursday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Potomac Lounge in University Union, according to Interfraternity Council President Bruce Blackwell. This is an opportunity for the guys to meet all the different fraternities and learn about their philanthropies. The Spring Rush 2013 will take place from Sunday, Feb. 24 through Thursday, March 7, Blackwell said. And bid day will take place on Friday, March 8. On February 24, formal rush will be from 12-3:30 p.m. throughout the Union.
Panhellenic formal recruitment will begin Feb. 8 for ladies, according to their Facebook page. Rush will be two weekends in a row and will end Feb. 17. Bid night will take place Feb. 18. Similar to IFC recruitment, if a potential new member receives a bid they must attend bid day.
The IFC, along with Panhel, National Pan-hellenic Council, and Unified Greek Council will be attending the Northeast Greek Leadership Association annual conference. This conference will provide the respective representatives from each council with valuable leadership skills as well as other tools to help the Greek Life excel on Towson’s campus, Blackwell said.
