A 21-year-old male and female reported that while engaging in sexual activity on a parking garage early Sunday morning, they observed a black male nearby with his pants down masturbating.
The incident, which is considered first-degree assault, occurred 1:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at a garage near Pennsylvania Avenue and York Road.
Police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathy Batton said the victims ran down the steps, away from the suspect, who the victims said was approximately 5 foot 10 with short black hair.
When the victims and suspect reached the third floor of the garage, the suspect brandished a butterfly knife at the male victim and began yelling incoherently, according to Batton.
The victims continued to the bottom floor, but the suspect did not follow them.
Batton could not identify nor confirm whether the victims were students.
Towson University Police sent a crime alert about the incident to students, faculty and staff Monday.
Several students said they found the incident amusing.
“Someone must have been pretty horny,” junior Ivanna Melendez said. “But that’s pretty disturbing.”
TUPD also sent out two additional crime alerts Monday and Tuesday about an on campus peeping tom.
