New Towson CFO promoted
Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services Joe Oster was appointed to Vice President of Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Towson University, effective April 1, 2013.
“This is a position that I’ve always envisioned myself in and the timing is just perfect for me and the University,” he said.
The role as the VP of Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer is to support all the departments on the campus, especially the academic mission, and ensure that Towson has all the appropriate allocation of resources to meet the University’s mission, Oster said.
“I think I bring to the position a more unique student-focused approach, having my office here in the University Union for the past 16 years,” he said. “The past 16 years my focus has been in and around students while managing the financial resources of Auxiliary Services.”
President Maravene Loeschke sent an email Monday announcing Oster to the position and said he has been at the University since 1996 and is involved in many campus committees, such as Resource Planning Advisory Committee, Emergency Operations, University Relations, Trimester Task Force, Middle States Budget, Athletics’ Business Advisory and Athletics Strategic Planning. At Towson Oster was involved in $200 million worth of campus enhancements, and $20 million in renovations and special projects at the Towson University Marriott Conference Hotel, the email states.
“He brings 33 years of experience in higher education, and I look forward to working with him in our continued efforts to strengthen Towson’s role in the state and region,” Loeschke said in the email.
A national search for a replacement in Oster’s previous position as associate vice president of auxiliary services will begin soon and they hope to have it filled by summer, Oster said.
“I’m very excited to continue to support Towson University, it’s a campus I’ve grown to love,” he said.
