What’s the Buzz: Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga, Russel Brand

Beyonce Steals Spotlight

Maybe it was the 34-minute long blackout at the Superdome, or maybe everyone is just finally realizing that no other halftime show will ever be able to top Beyonce’s, but already there are talks of a prerecorded halftime show, or none at all at next year’s Super Bowl in New Jersey.  One option is a separate concert beforehand to then be televised during the usual halftime break. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell insists that the game is supposed to be played in all elements, but there is always the “doomsday” fear for which the North East is known. However, as witnessed Sunday, delays and complications can strike at any stadium. No official explanation has been given for the power outage except for that the power supply company, Entergy New Orleans, has hired an outside party for investigation.

Lady Gaga’s Diva Demands

Whenever a celebrity’s tour ride is revealed there are always quirky demands, but Lady Gaga must think it’s a complete joke. The pop star’s Monster Ball rider is filled with demands: an entire stock of lavender bath towels, a glam rock themed dressing room with white leather couches, six containers of Activia, and the holy grail of awkward demands: a mannequin with “puffy pink pubic hair.” Details of the demands emerged after her former BFF and assistant, Jennifer O’Neill, hit Gaga with a $380,000 lawsuit for unpaid overtime wages. O’Neill claims that she was required to be by Gaga’s side 24/7, and her responsibilities included sleeping in the same bed as her. Naturally, Gaga is not too happy about the backlash and like a true diva she responded with “Because she slept in Egyptian cotton sheets every night, in five-star hotels, on private planes and eating caviar,” which just only solidifies O’Neill’s clam that Gaga thought of being in her presence as pay enough.

Brand Versus Mayer

Russell Brand stopped by Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show early this week for a candid interview about how he feels about his ex-wife Katy Perry dating John Mayer. Brand started by bluntly stating that Mayer is a bigger womanizer than Brand ever was, but he ended on a soft note, explaining, “you have to let go of the instinct to protect someone once you divorce them.” However, Brand wasn’t the only one to field questions about Perry this week as Rolling Stone interviewed Mayer with the inevitable curiosities.  Mayer gave a cool, vague response that he is “happy in all aspects of my life,” when questioned about how his relationship with Perry has been. Meanwhile, rumors of a Katy Perry and Johnny Wujek (her stylist) fashion line have been making their way out of the woodwork. It seems like the future is full of candy bras.
