Campus Activities Board announced Sunday that rap artist Wiz Khalifa will headline TigerFest 2013. The show will also feature Breathe Carolina and Super Mash Bros.

Tigerfest will take place Friday, April 19 at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Khalifa is best known for his songs “Young, Wild and Free,” “The Thrill,” and “Black and Yellow.” He will follow in the footsteps of last year’s headlining artist Kid Cudi.

“We tried to do what’s best for our students,” CAB Director Nick Jones said. “Based on our TigerFest survey, Wiz Khalifa is always a top choice.”

Jones said that CAB was not looking for an artist within a specific genre of music, but instead an artist that would appeal to a wide variety of students.

“He’s got well-known songs,” Jones said. “He was at the Grammys performing and he was also at Preakness and it was really successful. We’re hoping he has the same effect at Towson.”

This year, Jones said CAB hopes to create a Warped Tour-like atmosphere for TigerFest. There will be inflatables and more shop vendors than years past.

“It’s TigerFest not ‘Tiger concert,’” Jones said. “It’s so much more than just the artist.”

Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 11 at the University Union Ticket Office.

Student tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Non-students may purchase tickets beginning Monday, April 1. Non-student tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of TigerFest.
