Bad Luck Brandi: Brandi and mother nature
My brother is a police officer in Washington, D.C. and the Department recently took photos for the officers but my brother wasn’t impressed. So he asked me if I could take pictures of him and his K9 that he’d be able to give to family.
Seeing as D.C. is slightly out of my way, we scheduled in advance for Saturday, Sept. 21. I figured I would make a day out of it and asked my mom if she wanted to go to the book festival on the Mall after I took photos of my brother. My mom and I ventured to the Metro and went into the city. We got off near the Capitol and waited for my brother to meet us. We could tell by the sky and light sprinkles of rain that impending doom was upon us.
Trying to race to get photos of my brother before a storm started, we kept circling around trying to figure out which side of the mall he was on. After finally finding him, we barely said hello and the sky started falling down and we were soaked.
Trying our best to make this day work, my mom and I took shelter near the Capitol Visitor’s Center while my brother continued working until the storm cleared up.
After realizing that these photos just weren’t going to happen and that we didn’t want to walk to the book festival, we went toward the Metro and got food while seeing if my brother could take a break from work to eat with us while we dried off in a restaurant called Tortilla Coast.
So my Saturday consisted of a trip to D.C., soaking wet clothes, tacos and a pitcher of sangria. Guess I have to raincheck to take photos later.
