‘Better’ buys for your closet
When consignment shop owners Laura Agatstein and Bella Prekalsky opened their closets, they realized that they had a problem.
“Our closets are full of clothes that sometimes you wear a couple of times and then you say, ‘well, everybody has seen me in it, time to move on,’” Agastein said.
That’s why the two decided to open Better Than New, a consignment shop that specializes in gently used upscale clothing.
“Talking to other women, we realized that we all have the same issues, we buy things that sometimes are mistakes for us, but could be a wonderful find for someone else,” Agastein said.
The shop, located at 714 York Road, opened in May and carries a wide variety of items from jewelry and accessories to dresses and suits.
And though the shop doesn’t carry sweats or casual items typical of the college wardrobe, Agastein said that college students should still check out the shop.
“We have clothes to fit anybody and every need and I think that for someone who is finishing school or going for interviews or having internships that need to look professional, we can help them,” she said.
In fact, Agastein said that she and Prekalsky chose to bring Better Than New to Towson because of the mix of students and professionals.
Though the shop specializes in upscale merchandise, it boasts of a wide price range.
And Agastein and Prekalsky know every piece of merchandise, be it Versace clutch or antique earrings.
“We own this store, we are very invested in it. And we can tell you exactly what looks good on you,” Agastein said. Visit the shop online at http://www.betterthannewtowson.com/
