Acclaimed author visits
Tuesday night, New York Times bestselling author Daniel Pink visited Towson and gave a talk titled “Motivation, Innovation and Education.”
Pink visited Towson as a part of the 2013 Signature Forums series, hosted by the Presidential Scholar for Innovation in Teacher and Leader Preparation, Nancy Grasmick.
Grasmick said that one of the reasons she wanted Pink to come to Towson was because of his thoughts and ideas about innovation and creativity.
Pink talked extensively about motivation, and how different types of motivation effects how well people work. In 2009, Pink gave a TED talk on the same subject that is available online.
He also stressed the importance of autonomy in both academic and work environments. Autonomy, Pink says, leads to engagement in work and school.
