Millennium Hall sees solicitation scam
Two people attempted to gain entry to Towers C and D of the Glen Complex and Millenium Hall on Oct. 24.
The suspects did not gain access into any of the buildings except for Millennium, Towson University Police Department Deputy Chief of Police Joe Herring said. They claimed to be trying to get people to enter a contest.
“We could not locate any of the individuals on campus,” he said.
Assistant Vice President to Housing and Residence Life Jerry Dieringer said that it is a criminal trespassing charge if someone is to enter the buildings that they are not allowed to be in.
“Anybody to enter the building must show ID, and if they’re not a resident of the building they must be a guest and be hosted by a resident of the building,” he said. “It is the expectation that everyone is ID’ed and that’s the staff expectation.”
If a student or someone were to register them as a guest and let them do something that violates policy, then the person who allowed them to do the violation will receive a violation, Dieringer said.
“We do not allow solicitation in any of our buildings, period,” he said.
