Benimon participates in Portsmouth Invitational

Just two weeks after winning Most Valuable Player of the Reese’s College All-Star Game at the Final Four, Jerrelle Benimon participated in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament held at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va. over the weekend.

The PIT is a tournament that features the country’s top seniors who participate in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of NBA and international team executives.

The two-time Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year posted a double-double in his first game (10 points, 14 rebounds) Wednesday and had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a 92-91 win on Thursday.

Burwell signs with Arete, takes part in Combine

The former point guard signed with Arete Sports Agency to represent him as he pursues a professional career in basketball.

Burwell also participated in the Portsmouth Combine Top 80 Free Agent exposure camp over the weekend at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. NBA, NBA-Developmental League and international scouts attended the combine.

Skerry adds JuCo commit

Head Coach Pat Skerry has added another guard to his team for the 2014-15 season. Baton Rouge Community College combo guard Josh Ivory announced his decision to transfer to Towson and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The Alexandria, La. native is 6-feet-2, 195 pounds and averaged 15 points, five assists and three steals as a senior at Peabody Magnet High School.

He was a three-year starter for Peabody Magnet, which posted a 103-5 record and won two state titles during his final three seasons. Peabody Magnet finished as the No. 23 ranked team in the nation in the USA Today Super 25 poll during Ivory’s sophomore year.

“Josh is a talented and tough perimeter player that will be a great addition to our backcourt,” Skerry told Towsontigers.com. “He brings defensive intensity and the ability to make shots or find open teammates on the offensive end. Josh is an experienced player and a high character person that we are thrilled to add to our program.”
