Fashion tip of the week: Accessorize!

Have you ever had the perfect complete outfit that just didn’t feel complete? You’ve combined the perfect shoes, top, bottoms, and hair –do in to a stylish look that just seems to be missing something. It is a fashion faux pas to forget the accents.

Every plain Jane can be a fashionista without leaving the comforts of her own style. Always remember to accentuate your boring tops with a little faboulosity!

The perfect accessory is the charm bracelet. All your girlfriends want to borrow this because it adds sassy style and just looks so appealing. Don’t overdo it though! If you have one charm bracelet on the arm you don’t need a mountain of jewelry to add to it. One charm bracelet can replace 3-4 bangles. I personally have four and two each color; silver and gold. Stick with basic colors like silver and gold. The neon color plastic jewelry is tacky and tasteless; so high school. Affordable charm bracelets can be found in the Towson Mall, at the various jewelry stands. The selection is exclusive and unique. If you go to places like Nordstrom you will pay an arm and a leg for a bracelet that everyone else has too.

The vintage watch can be an easy unique look. Alone the watch looks just like something my grandmother would wear, yet with the rest of the Jewelry it fits! I wear my vintage watch everywhere and received so many y complements. The best part is it was passed down to me therefore no one else has it. It’s just one of those things that you appreciate. Try asking your mom or grandmother for their old costume jewelry or sifting through your local consignment shop. Often my flashy accents come from the past.

The patterned scarf is today’s official fall must have.  Janet Kirsch, graduate Assistant for the Campus Activities Board, wore a hot pink indie scarf with a black pattern. The scarf was retro and ethic at the same time but most importantly it took her entire outfit to the next level.

The lesson here is you do not need to wear flashy clothing that screams “May I Have Your Attention Please”, to be bring out your style.  A true fashionista accentuates her style with the right items which turns it into something fierce!
