Lilly Pulitzer, the classic, preppy women’s clothing label, will open Wednesday, August 8 at the Towson Town Center. The store, the first Lilly Pultizer retail location in the Maryland/Virginia area, will open at 10 a.m., according to assistant manager Meredith Pickering. “There’s lots of tastes of Maryland all throughout,” Pickering said. “There are fun Maryland sayings and crab decorations all around the store.” The store will also host a grand opening event from August 8-14. The NCAA announced Monday severe penalties against Pennsylvania State University in wake of the sexual scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. These sanctions include a $60 million fine, a four-year postseason ban and a five-year probationary period, with the NCAA reserving the right to implement further punishment as it sees fit. Former Towson student and current MT&T Bank executive James Jones was sworn in as the Towson Chamber of Commerce President Wednesday, May 27, succeeding Deb Moriarty, vice president of student affairs. Towson held its 147th commencement exercises, the largest graduation ceremonies to ever take place, Wednesday, May 23 through Friday, May 25. The Campus Activities Board has booked an opening artist and headliner for Tigerfest 2012, with the possibility of one more opening act, according to CAB Director and Towerlight columnist Sam Silverman.
