W&M wins CAA Tournament with perfect score

Towson hit the trail as they hosted the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Saturday at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley. The team took sixth in a field of eight schools in the 6k race. William and Mary, currently ranked 18th in the country, took first. Junior Elizabeth Tauber led the Tigers placing eighth in a field of 76 runners with a time of 22:16.09, earning her All-Conference honors. In its final meet of the season, Towson finished 11th as a team in the ECAC Championships. The Tigers finished the 5K race with a total time of 1:40:10:61 and an average time of 20:02:12. Sacred Heart University won the event with an overall time of 1:34:18.80, averaging 18:51.76 per runner. Towson Sophomore Elizabeth Tauber had a strong finish to the season, coming in 39th place with a time of 19:36.9. Senior Hanna McKenzie finished her cross country career at Towson with an 85th finish with a time of 20:20.3. Towson competed in the NCAA Mid Atlantic Championship Friday, Nov. 9, tying for 23rd place in the event with 670 points. Thirty-one teams competed in the Women’s 6K Championship, with Penn State winning it all with 61 points. The Tigers’ top runner was sophomore Elizabeth Tauber, who came in 85th place overall with a time of 22:44. Tauber has led the Tigers in every race this season and looks to continue her success with only the conference championship meet left. Towson finished fifth out of eight teams in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Saturday. William & Mary finished first. The Tiger’s usual top finisher sophomore Elizabeth Tauber had an uncharacteristic poor finish in 22nd place, with an overall time of 22:28.3.Finishing right behind Tauber for Towson was fellow sophomore Kara Bucaro who came in 29th place with an overall time of 22:59.6. Other top Tiger finishers were senior Hannah McKenzie, finishing 41st, and sophomore Ashley Simmons, finishing in 44th place. The Tigers have the Towson Alumni Meet Sunday, Nov. 4. After coming off a bye week, the Tigers came back to take fourth place in the William & Mary Open. The Tigers were once again led by sophomore Elizabeth Tauber, who ran the 6K in 22:36, giving her eighth place in the race. Towson also had sophomore Kara Bucaro run a strong race with a time of 23:08, giving her a 16th place finish. Towson’s Cross Country team competed in the Paul Short Invitational, finishing 19th out of 39 teams. The Tigers finished with a total team time of 1:59:00. In a different type of meet, the Tigers competed in a point’s race, with a much bigger field of teams. Leading the team was sophomore Elizabeth Tauber. She finished with a time of 22:46, coming in 26th overall in the race out of 342 runners. Senior Hannah McKenzie had a strong performance with a final time of 23:50. Towson took home a first place victory in the Towson Invitational. In a 5K race, the team had an overall time of 1:37:17.88, beating second place finisher Mount St. Mary’s time of 1:38:26.36. Sophomore Elizabeth Tauber put up another strong performance, finishing second overall in the race, with an average mile time of 6:07.2. In its second meet of the season, Towson traveled to Delaware to compete in the Delaware Invite where the Tigers finished in second place. All 10 teams participating in the meet had runners take place in the 6K run, which is equal to almost four miles. Towson finished with a total time of 2:01:26:68, trailing the Delaware squad that finished with a winning time of 1:56:29:75. The Tigers’ leading runner was sophomore Elizabeth Tauber. Despite only having three runners in the top 15, Towson finished second in the Baltimore Metro Cross Country Meet held at Oregon Ridge Park. Sophomore Elizabeth Tauber was Towson’s highest finisher at 6th overall, completing the race in 19:10.95. Johns Hopkins dominated the meet with 11 runners in the top 15. In their season finale, the Tigers finished third at the ECAC Championships in New York City on Saturday. Graduate student Katie Ogden and senior Kaitlyn Gilmartin-Donohue led the way for Towson in the last meet of their collegiate cross country careers. Ogden finished eighth overall in the race with a time of 18:37, with Gilmartin-Donohue eight seconds behind, finishing 17th.
