Last year Towson spoiled Old Dominion’s homecoming with one bizarre play. The Tigers were down by three points with a little over a minute remaining in the game when they faced a 4th-and-29 situation at their own 37-yard line. Then-sophomore quarterback Grant Enders connected with Tom Ryan, who out-jumped two ODU defenders and dragged Monarchs’ safety Paul Morant into the end zone, giving the Tigers the 39-35 win. “I’m almost 1,000 percent sure that 4th-and-29 [...]

James Madison Head Coach Mickey Matthews earned his 100th career victory as the Dukes held on for a 13-10 win over the Towson Tigers. With 3:16 left on the clock, James Madison quarterback Justin Thorpe took the field, down 10-6. Towson’s defense held Thorpe in check for the majority of the game, but in the final minutes, the defense broke down and Thorpe capitalized. “We didn’t tackle that well in the end,” Towson Head Coach [...]

Twelfth-ranked Towson (2-2, 1-0 CAA) will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to resume Colonial Athletic Association play and face the No. 5 James Madison Dukes. The Dukes (3-1, 1-0 CAA), statistically, have the top-run defense in the CAA and one of the most dynamic players in the conference: quarterback Justin Thorpe. “Thorpe is easily top-three, if not No. 1, best offensive weapons in the league,” Head Coach Rob Ambrose said. “You don’t [stop him]. You just [...]
