Despite promising performances, Towson freshmen Abby Griswold and Katie Sassa saw their season end at the NCAA regional qualifying meet Saturday at the O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Fl. Griswold and Sassa were selected to compete in the regional qualifying meet after Towson did not qualify as a team. Griswold’s scores in the all-around competition and Sassa’s on the vault were high enough to earn them a trip to Gainesville. No. 1 Florida took home the [...]

Katie Sassa and Abby Griswold found out Monday they qualified for the meet. Qualification is based on the gymnasts’ cumulative scores from the season. Both gymnasts’ regional qualification scores earned them a spot in the Regional meet even before the Eastern Athletic [...]

Towson earned season-high team scores on the bars and the floor exercise, but fell to Rutgers 195.550-194.500 Friday night at the Towson Center. The Tigers bounced back after a fall on vault in the first rotation, in which they scored an overall 48.950. Senior Brittany Russell’s 9.875 and sophomore Lydia Thompson’s 9.850 helped overshadow freshman Abby Griswold’s 8.725, which was dropped as the lowest score. “The one word I’d sum up this meet with is [...]

Towson picked up its second win of the season against the Cornell Big Red on a snowy Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, N.Y. 192.325-191.000. With the victory, in which the team won each event, the Tigers extended their 10-game dual meet win streak against the Big Red. “Wins and losses are secondary to the score,” Head Coach Vicki Chliszczyk said. “We saw some really good things out of different individuals and we saw some fight out [...]

TU finishes second

Towson finished second in its first home meet of the year, finishing with a score of 193.000 behind first place Bridgeport. The Tigers recorded their highest team score of the year, which was enough to top Lindenwood (187.650) and Ursinus (181.150), but could not match Bridgeport’s 194.650. “I think the meet was kind of sandwiched in that we started very well on the vault and ended well on the floor,” Head Coach Vicki Chliszczyk said.
