This year’s Hart trophy for the most valuable player is a no-brainer. All bias aside, Washington’s Alex Ovechkin is the clear winner. After a three-hour rain delay, in their first game of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament in Hempstead, N.Y., the fourth seeded Towson Tigers (29-27-1) struggled to score a run and fell to the top seeded Hofstra Pride (41-11), 6-0. Towson beat Hofstra 9-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Championship game Sunday, giving the Tigers an automatic tournament bid to the NCAA Tournament. Towson defeated Penn State 11-10 Friday afternoon to win its first Colonial Athletic Association title since 2005. The Tigers (10-7) travelled to University Park, Pa., with revenge on their minds, after it lost to the Nittany Lions (12-4) 10-8 on April 1. Towson suffered its first conference sweep Sunday as it lost to Georgia State 8-3 in Atlanta, Ga.
