The last regular season meet of the 2012-13 season saw the swimming and diving teams to separate places over the weekend. The Tigers finished their Colonial Athletic Association dual-meet season undefeated, remaining unbeaten overall. While the women kept their record perfect, the men’s team finished their CAA dual-meet season without a conference win. The women (10-0, 6-0 CAA) beat the Delaware Blue Hens on the road 205-95. The Towson women’s swimming and diving team sent seven girls to Austin, Texas to compete in the U.S. Swimming’s Winter Nationals. The women who competed were senior Amanda Skroupa, juniors Kendall Towe, Kaitlin Burke, Cassie Sorna and Melanie Rowland, sophomore Victoria Oslund, and freshman Jenna Van Camp. Both the men and women’s swimming and diving team left Saturday’s meet against George Washington with wins. The women remain undefeated, while the men won their second meet of the season. In the women’s (6-0, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) 211-82 victory, junior Kaitlin Burke led the way with two of Towson’s nine individual wins. The women’s swimming and diving team remained undefeated in conference play while the men’s team lost twice this weekend in POD meets at Old Dominion. The Tigers’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both defeated Georgetown Saturday. The women (2-0, 1-0 CAA) cruised to a 188.50-106.50 victory while the men (1-1, 0-1 CAA) grinded out a 154-134 victory. Junior swimmer Kendall Towe led the women. Since she was 13 years old, Towson University swimmer Melanie Rowland had dreamed of qualifying for the Olympic Trials, hoping that one day she could represent the United States in the greatest sporting event in the world.
