It was a familiar spot: Johnny Unitas Stadium with 9,000-plus fans cheering for Towson. However, this game had a sense of urgency brought about by a 1-2 start, including a loss to Central Connecticut State at home Aug. 30. The Tigers (2-2) got the win they needed over the Eagles (1-3) with help from sophomore running back Darius Victor and his 194 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. They could ill afford a 1-3 start and the 31-20 win made sure it didn’t happen. Head Coach Rob Ambrose said the team wanted to win this game to erase the memories of the home loss to Central […] Read the full story »

Local band 3PM has three members, one of which is Towson student Brandon Millman. Although they have been around since 2012, the Welcome Back concert Friday night was the first time 3PM has performed on Towson’s campus. “I’ve never felt nervous for shows, but I’m excited. Behind the drum set I’m pretty comfortable,” Millman said. The Welcome Back concert is a yearly event at Towson. “I like that there were a lot of different kind of people there and it was kind of a syndication of Towson,” freshman Elana Geary said. Geary was one of the students that attended Alpha Phi Omega’s Welcome Back Concert at Paws […] Read the full story »

Towson defeated the La Salle Explorers, 3-0, at SECU Arena on Saturday to wrap up the Towson Invitational, continuing the team’s undefeated streak to start the season. The Tigers (6-0) started the tournament with a 3-0 win Friday against the St. Peter’s Gamecocks (0-5). Towson then took down the Coppin State Eagles (4-3), by a score of 3-1 on Saturday and finished up with a victory against La Salle (3-5). “It was a winnable tournament and that was the expectation coming into the match,” Head Coach Don Metil said. “It’s good to have the positive mentality moving forward into the two greatly more difficult weekends coming up.” […] Read the full story »

Blue Devils' last-minute drive tops Towson
31 Aug 2014 | No Comments | By Matt Hamilton, Sports Editor
It was a familiar scene: Fans, all dressed in yellow, crowded the stands for Towson football. However, it wasn’t the Football Championship Subdivision championship game and the opponent wasn’t the North Dakota State Bison. This time it was the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils, a team that finished 4-8 last season. But the game ended the same way, a crushing loss for the Tigers on Saturday night at Johnny Unitas Stadium. “Give credit to Central Connecticut,” Head Coach Rob Ambrose said. “They came to play and knock off the supposed big boy and did just that. … I’ve said time and time again to these guys that […] Read the full story »
