According to an updated BCPD press release, Jeffrey Alan Mewbourn was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Prince George's County for shooting his girlfriend in their Halstead Road apartment.
Mewbourn,46, shot his 44-year-old girlfriend, Joyce Daniels, around 1 p.m. Tuesday, putting two Baltimore County schools on lockdown, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
The victim was found suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wounds to her upper body and was transported to Sinai Hospital by ambulance.
The victim has two children who separately attend Halstead Academy and Parkville High School, both in the Towson area. The schools were put on lockdown as a precaution due to the shooting, according to a press release sent by BCPD office coordinator Julia Hardgrove.
School lockdowns are a normal procedure in these situations, according to BCPD Corporal Mike Hill.
The motive for the shootings is still undergoing investigation, Hill said.
