After TB test, student is isolated

Off-campus resident tests positive during tuberculosis screening

A Towson student who lives off campus has tested positive during an initial tuberculosis screening. The University learned about the possibly sick student from the Baltimore County Department of Health late Thursday afternoon. According to a press release issued by the department, the student is isolated away from campus and will not be attending classes as testing and treatment continue.

Students react to possible homecoming changes

Some students are expressing disapproval toward the proposed modifications to the Homecoming tailgate for Fall 2008. Policy changes being considered include limiting the number of cars in Lot 14 to 150, pre-selling all parking passes, and not allowing any outside alcohol.

Moving all night for a 'Miracle'

For 12 consecutive hours, starting Friday night and into Saturday morning, students grooved to the music to raise money for the Johns Hopkins Children's Miracle Network in the University Union Potomac Lounge. From 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., about 150 students participated in the eighth annual, TigerTHON, raising about $3,000, according to TigerTHON president Julie Lyst.

SGA considers changes in funding for student groups

Organizations' budgets may be filed monthly; operational costs cut

The Student Government Association is considering a change in how it distributes funds to student groups. SGA treasurer William Logan said an outlined proposal would provide funding for SGA-affiliated student groups on a monthly basis rather than filing their prospective budgets at the end of each semester.

Trimester courses finalized

New summer pilot program to feature health sciences, kinesiology

Forty-one sections including health sciences, kinesiology and occupational therapy, along with other math and science courses are part of the finalized schedule for this summer's 10-week pilot trimester. The 10-week sessions will begin May 27 and run through Aug.

Application totals at all-time high

Towson University has received an increased number of applications for undergraduate admission for Fall 2008 than they received for Fall 2007. Towson reported about 15,200 applications last year, and is reporting about 15,350 applications so far this year.

Dowell may accept student insurance

Health Center may start taking private insurance coverage for Fall 2008

Beginning Fall 2008, the Dowell Health Center may start accepting student health insurance policies. According to the Third Party Insurance Billing Proposal, 89 percent of students have health insurance coverage, however, only about 1,100 students are insured through the University's plan.
