Hallis named his "tour" after he performed at the University Union Paws' "Open Mic Night" Monday, March 23.
After seeing a flyer for the event, Hallis approached the coordinator for the event and was booked for the show shortly thereafter.
"It's something that they are trying [to attract] people to come to Newell," Hallis said.
He said he has been singing his whole life and has been playing guitar for a couple of years. He said he plays and performs just for fun, but if the opportunity to get signed arose, he would take it.
"I've been writing music just as long as I have been playing guitar. It's kind of a way to express myself," Hallis said.
Hallis writes all of his own songs, and said that his inspirations for songs come from past experiences and random ideas.
Hallis has played in music festivals and concert venues in Maryland, including the 8x10 club in Baltimore. Sometimes he collaborates with his siblings, and this Friday his sister will back him when he plays at another concert venue in Maryland. However, he usually plays the acoustic guitar by himself.
"I think acoustic guitar is one of the sweetest sounds in the world," Hallis said.
This Thursday he will play about 20 songs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The songs will be a mix of original and cover songs including "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls, "Apologize" by One Republic and "Wonderwall" by Oasis.
Hallis said he anticipates a good turnout this Thursday.
"I'm [going to] get people that are just going there and have no idea, and I'm definitely trying to promote it myself," Hallis said.
