This year's Student Government Association election is brought to you by the letter A.

The two parties, Foundation and Team Tigertown, both include current members of the SGA and members of student groups.

Foundation is running on the theme of "action, advocacy and awareness" while Team Tigertown is promising to be "accessible, attentive and active."

Voting will take place April 22-23 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Campaigning for seats on next year's Student Government Association executive board and legislative body began Friday, April 11.

Meeting the candidates

The Foundation ticket includes current SGA treasurer Bill Logan running for president, Antonio Hernandez for vice president, John Eubank IV for treasurer, and Lauren Seserko for attorney general. Team Tigertown consists of current SGA vice president Kristen Guy for president, James Torrence for vice president, Jon Graf for treasurer, and Julie Lyst for attorney general.

"We will work toward a greener Towson University by emphasizing recycling, the use of recycled paper products, public transportation, and the use of electronic books," Logan said in an e-mail. "We will work to increase off-campus dining opportunities that meet the desires of students."

Other points of emphasis on Foundation's platform include Greek advocacy by supporting Greek housing and the addition of Greek merchandising stores. Additional breaks throughout the fall and spring semesters, including a day off before the beginning of exams, are items on the ticket's agenda.

Team Tigertown seeks to get "back to the basics," Guy said.

"Team Tigertown is stressing the importance of establishing a team as the executive board in order to have the most successful year," Guy said in an e-mail.

Both parties agree that service to the students is most important, however Foundation plans to work on this internally, whereas Team Tigertown sees their efforts going directly to student groups.

"One of the things I would like to change for next year is the organization of SGA," Logan said. "I do not like to see an agenda finalized moments before a meeting, because we want people to be knowledgeable of what we are doing."
