So instead of losing limbs over a meal, the best bet at Oriole Park is to check out the smoke rising over the right field scoreboard, beyond the flag court. Boog's Famous BBQ isn't cheap, but for less than $10 any fan can pick up a filling meal. A plate from the former Oriole power-hitting first baseman's stand includes a BBQ sandwich, baked beans and coleslaw. A soda is optional in the standard or souvenir size and beer is available as well.
Hundreds of Towson students will be filing through Eutaw Street Friday with free tickets in hand, so with that in mind, it's worth splurging for a good meal (or beer). Nachos are the same everywhere. Esskay Oriole hotdogs are always quality, but when they can be picked up at the local grocery store, the novelty of a ballpark frank is lost. Peanuts and pistachios are good, but never filling. A hot pretzel is good, but then there is always the risk of getting that one without any salt and then you are left disappointed.
Baltimoreans pride themselves on what sets them apart. This includes Old Bay, crabs, Natty Boh and when it comes to Oriole games, Boog's BBQ is crucial to truly experiencing Baltimore. So for all those Charm City natives, relish the opportunity that you have while cheering on your hometown Birds. And for all of you New Jersey, New York, Long Islanders that are going to be at the yard Friday night cheering for the evil empire, dig in to a top-notch barbecue sandwich as you watch the Yankees go down to the Orioles.
