If your mother wouldn't approve of it, don't do it

Towson University's signature event, Tigerfest, is on Saturday and I, like many others, are looking forward to seeing thousands of students and your friends on campus to enjoy this great campus tradition.
While I hope and expect the event will be a fun and memorable experience for most students, I know that for others it may be used as an excuse to demonstrate uncivil, unreasonable, and even dangerous behaviors. I continue to be concerned about the risky behaviors students choose to engage in around this event. Not only am I concerned for each of you individually, I am concerned about the consequences of your behaviors on your fellow students, the campus community, and the surrounding neighbors.
So what does your mother have to do with it? I ask you to think about your behavior before you do something upon which your mother would frown. Let me suggest a few things to keep in mind:
1. Take care of your friends throughout the day,
2. Be civil and respectful of your neighbors,
3. Clean up after yourself,
4. Hold each other accountable,
5. Think about how your behavior impacts others,
6. Be safe and responsible, and
7. Have fun!
Individuals who live in the Towson community, for the most part, love living near the University and enjoy having students as their neighbors. Unfortunately, there are exceptions to this and those exceptions make our entire student body look bad. Tigerfest is one of those events that most students look forward to yet creates concern for many of our neighbors.
So I ask that you have a fun weekend, enjoy this great event, and make Towson University (and your mama) proud.
Sincerely,
