Led by sophomore Chris Scialo's one-under 70, the men's golf team recently finished sixth at the CAA Championships at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. Scialo's final round, a career best, boosted the team to a finish in the middle of the 11 team field and helped him to a 27th-place finish individually. Freshman Nyasha Mauchaza put together a consistent three round score of eight over par to lead Towson. He shot 73-71-77 to place 15th in the tournament. Georgia State won the tournament, but the sixth place season for the Tigers marked the second best placing in a tournament this season.
On the women's side, the team recorded a school-best 312 in the final round to post a seventh place finish. Freshman Sara Eichelberger and sophomore Alejandra Estrada each tied for 27th place, while junior Morgan Reich finished a team-best 25th place with a three-round total of 238. The Tigers saved their best performance of the tournament for last, as the team broke a tie with Dayton because each team member bettered their score on the final day. The team's seventh-place finish was its fourth best placing in a tournament this season.

After finishing the regular season with a 5-2 record in the CAA, a mark that earned Towson a place in the conference tournament, the Tigers rose in the national rankings for the fourth consecutive week. The Inside Lacrosse media poll had the team ranked 16th while the IWLCA poll placed the team as the 18th best in the nation. The team is currently first in the CAA, and if both William & Mary and George Mason lose in the coming weekend, Towson will have the top seed in the Tournament and will host it at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Meanwhile, star junior Hillary Fratzke has been named as one of 18 finalists for the 2008 Tewaaraton Award, given yearly to both the top men's and women's lacrosse player in the country. Fratzke has posted dominating numbers this season, scoring a total of 52 goals and 23 assists while helping the Tigers to an 11-5 record. She is the first player in school history to be nominated for the award, and is the only player in the CAA listed as a finalist.
Women's tennis
The Tigers' injury-ridden season came to a close Thursday at the CAA Championships. Natalie Walten was a winner in her singles match against Hofstra's Valerie McDonald in the opening round.
Walten defeated McDonald 6-3, 6-1 to claim the Tigers' lone victory in the match. Senior Amanda Scatuorchio's career came to a close after losing doubles with her partner Jaclyn Tamburo to Hofstra's duo of Christie Gattelaro and Stacy Kent.
