Missing out on the change

Class of 2011 won't get to reap awards of construction, progress on campus

As everyone knows, many changes are being made at Towson University. You've seen it in the papers, on the Web and even with your own eyes. As if the new residence hall addition of West Village and the current construction for the new liberal arts building weren't enough, the University has also planned for an entirely new construction of the Towson Center Arena.

On Aug. 17, Dave Freeman, 47-year-old coauthor of the book "100 Things to Do Before You Die" actually died. With normal life expectancy in the upper 70s, someone with such a proclaimed plan for life hardly seems a candidate for the cemetery. Freeman died after hitting his head (which really makes me worry about my own fate).

The hill outside of Smith Hall was unusually full Wednesday. Representative John Sarbanes was on hand to publicly support senator Barack Obama's candidacy for the president. Student leaders, student groups, administrators and even the generally perceived apathetic students were stopping to hear what he had to say.
