T-moji sweeps SGA In a Student Government Association election that seemed primed for a split ticket, the ticket T-moji swept the elections at the end of April. Charlotte Ridgeway, previously the SGA vice president, took the presidency over runner-up Mike Ukoha, the presidential candidate from TU Evolution, the other completely full ticket. Freshmen Hotshots After losing five top seniors to graduation from last year’s season, Towson sent two freshman gymnasts to the NCAA Regional meet in March. The freshmen, Katie Sassa and Abby Griswold, found out March 24 that their cumulative scores from the season qualified them for the meet. Recher closes after 16 years After close to 16 years of hosting rock, pop-punk and metal bands, the Recher Theatre in downtown Towson closed its doors in March. The concert venue was closed down in lieu of the new Torrent nightclub. Torrent will be owned by the Recher family still, but instead will host DJ’s as opposed to the typical rock concert. Bookmarks: Mystery magic I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought Oliver Pötzsch’s book “The Hangman’s Daughter.” First of all, it’s translated from German, which always makes me wary of stilted writing. TEDx crosses divide The second TEDxTowsonU independently organized TED event came to Towson Thursday, May 9. The event, comprised of 10 speakers, took place in the West Village Commons Ballrooms.
